And Eve walked to the river Tigris and did as Adam had told her. Likewise, Adam went to the river Jordan and stood on a stone in the water.

And Adam said: I tell thee, O water of the Jordan, mourn with me and assemble to me all the living creatures that are in thee. Let them surround me and mourn with me.

Not for themselves, but for me, for it is not they who have sinned, but I alone. And immediately all the living creatures came to him and surrounded him. And the water of the Jordan stood still and ceased its flow.
