The Sacred Numbers of Scripture

"Thou hast ordered all things in measure and number and weight." — Wisdom 11:20

42 numbers · from 1 to 144,000 · every one a Name He signs

"He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names."
God is not random. Every number in Scripture is a signature, a covenant, a thread in the tapestry of redemption.
— Psalm 147:4, AKJV

A Word of Honesty

On numbers that wander outside Scripture.

416 / 420 and others

Numbers in the air

Some numbers in modern culture (416 sometimes claimed for Hebrew tov me'od/"very good", 420 in cannabis culture, 911, etc.) are not numbers Scripture itself signs. We honor the Bible by being honest: not every coincidence is a covenant. The numbers above are the ones HE chose to repeat. Walk by faith, not by sight, and not by every numerical curiosity (2 Cor 5:7).

"Of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace."
— John 1:16
